Deciding to start my business is probably one the hardest mission I could give myself.
How it started is actually quite accidental. 4 years ago, I was able to help an acquaintance who is trying to start up a business, because of many years of working experiences as an accountant in corporate and banking setting. I start doing bookkeeping for him, as well as, cash flow planning, tax planning, budgeting, and set up a good automatic accounting system. Together, we saw his business grow to half a million company in 3 years. I was able to save him money and resources. Seeing the success had given me just enough courage and confident that I could help more small business owner succeed. I was a shy person, and starting a business from ground zero required me to get out of my comfort zone and to put myself out there.
It is pretty much a one man show- from finding clients, set up my own business system, marketing, and ensuring my clients’ financial success. From time to time, fear and doubt will crash me, making me question myself: am I good enough?
What keep me motivated and keep going is getting positive encouragement from my clients. As Thomas Carlyle, said: No pressure, No diamond. Today, I can see my clients’ business be benefited from our accounting services and continue to grow their business is because I did not give up!
